John Beal > -the divide-

there is a chasm that is traversed but once, where the water becomes too deep and the wind too cold. having crossed to the sand bars before, the joy of the adventure seems but a distant memory. pausing to look back, I wonder if I noticed when I changed from gleefully running to wrapped in a towel. was the water really that deep or the wind that cold?
John Beal > Gallery preparation
after all modifications have been made, regardless of post processing application, the image is processed in Photoshop Elements to add copyright and border, and to resize.
- resize image to be 1500 pixels on the long edge, maintaining LxW
ratio. merge visible and add sharpening, if necessary.
- add 16 pixels (8 per side) with a highlight border (usually black).
- expand border using the effect 'Drop Shadow Frame'.
- add copyright text using 14 pt font, and use the 'Clear Emboss (type)' effect. reposition to suit the image.
- save as JPeg and upload.

[edit: 27 Jan 06 - changed copyright and resizing as shown here so that bottom border is expanded by 25 pixels. this leaves room for the signature to be below the image.]
