John Beal > 1Jan07

heavily overcast the last 2 days to end 2006, an obviously clear day to begin 2007.

update: tightened crop per suggestion.

for those interested, I've created a gallery of my Top Twelve from 2006; not necessarily the most popular, but perhaps the most representative.

answering the burning question from last month.

the 'mustang in residence' at the local service station was out of the service bay and parked along the curb. the front 'teeth' are missing, so I've opted for an up-angle* profile shot tonight.

(* w/out a tripod at ~1/2s, the ground and lens hood serve nicely to give a steady shot.)

f/4.5, 1/2.5s, iso 200.

a little abstract this evening, as the rain was here all day. the hard storms all moved across south of here.

at first I thought that I'd leave it color, but, as I've commented before, I'm not too fond of the orange light from modern street lamps.

trying for an interesting effect here, but it looks like I need more practice. sunlight focused through the reading glasses onto the wall. the limbs of the trees across the parking lot and a thin veil of clouds are visible.

getting a smoother backdrop is easy. aligning the lenses with the wall and sliding the glasses forward or back to focus the image is much more difficult.
