ruins of the new manchester manufacturing mill, sweetwater creek state park.

i'll tie this in w/ today's history lesson: on this date in 1896 the niagara falls power plant started up. before its use for electrical generation, water was used to generate power in the forms of belts and pulleys. that was the case with new manchester mfg, which redirected a portion of sweetwater creek through the facility to turn the water turbines.

the ruins are a result of sherman's march to the sea, burning anything of military value to the confederacy as he went.

#54000 - high tide and morning fog, mackay river, lanier island, georgia.

today, the morning fog lay only on the water, and whilst i kept trying to conjure up an eerie apparition throughout my morning outing, it is this shot, the fourth of the morning, that has garnered all my attention this evening.

the land disappears into the sea. the sea disappears into the sky. the horizon on the right disappears as it moves to the left. and still waters offer no hint between the real and the reflected.

photographically, the limits of focus mimic the surreal vision of nature, with the sharpness of the foreground lost to the distant blur.

answering the burning question from last month.

the 'mustang in residence' at the local service station was out of the service bay and parked along the curb. the front 'teeth' are missing, so I've opted for an up-angle* profile shot tonight.

(* w/out a tripod at ~1/2s, the ground and lens hood serve nicely to give a steady shot.)

ecliptic companions.

it wasn't the shot i really thought that i would get. the clouds were moving quickly due to the wind, so getting all 3 exposed required waiting. in the cold night air. did i mention the wind? and the cold?

the next few shots had venus and jupiter peeking through the tree limbs, so i called it quits and am posting the first shot.

never did get a chance for good exposure nor focus.

um, ever heard of 'film mode'. that's what i'm calling it. remember film cameras, when it would take a month to shoot a 36 exposure roll. so it took a month to get the pictures out of the camera and in front of you. that's what this month has been like. several times i took shots, but didn't get to d/l'ing them unitl today.
