it is once again non-photography day, and, once again, i did not comply. i'm alright with the concept - that most people are too busy looking through a viewfinder to enjoy what is around them - and in that respect, perhaps it makes sense. i've heard that the average visitor at the grand canyon spends only 15 minutes at the rim.
on the other hand, as i have noted here before, photography has made me much more aware of my surroundings. often i find myself as the sole observer of a sunrise, or spending time watching the currents swerve at the rocks just below the surface.
others can jog on by and choose to enjoy the surroundings in different ways, but allow me to watch my step for strange plants underfoot, or be wary of the web beside the trail.
